Shrunken Man Summer: Barbie Edition!

Shrunken Man Summer.

“I’m a Barbie girl, in a Barbie…”-“Hush Ken, that song isn’t about you, it’s about me! Hee hee! Maybe someday they’ll make a song about you Ken, but until then go back to filling up the beach car!  We’ve got a fun day ahead of us!” Barbie explained as she changed behind her cherry blossom screen divider. It was a sizzling July day and what better activity to do than go to the beach and lay out in her pink-clad bikini! Ken sulked, rigidly. He was irritated after the movie premiere. “It’s always all about you Barbie! They could have put my name in the title! Ken exclaimed with fury. “Oh, we will have none of that! It’s time you saw the world with rose-colored glasses, Ken! Soon you’ll wish you would have been more grateful. Consequently, it’s going to be a shrunken man Summer for you, Ken!

Ken Disappeared, Right into His Neon Swim Trunks.

“Ugh, I wish I would have waited until he finished packing the Barbie Beach Cruiser! Maybe I’ll call Stacie!” Barbie said with a nearly unfazed sigh. She picked up the phone and accordingly, the numbers magically dialed.  Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring…”Hey Stacie!  I have a tiny little problem. You see, Ken was talking back to me and being jealous, OF ME!  Crazy!  Anyway, my tea kettle went from pink to red, and before I knew it my lips pouted and I furrowed my brow! I could have gotten a wrinkle! Anyway, I got so ticked off he, well, isn’t big anymore. Yeah, It’s a shrunken man summer for Ken, Stacie. Would you mind helping me pack for the beach? Could you drive me too? I don’t think Ken can reach the pedal anymore. HEY KEN, DO YOU THINK YOU COULD REACH THE PEDAL?” Barbie shouted, unsure of his whereabouts.

As Ken Began His Shrunken Man Summer,

He responded with a microscopic “no.” Barbie found him and decided to step on him a little to show her agitation. Barbie was very passive-aggressive.  Generally speaking, there was no other way to be in Barbie World. He yelled a tiny “ouch” and Barbie proceeded to tell him she would never make him big again if he continued to act that way. After all, the blow was cushioned simultaneously by her cotton candy carpet and her soft salmon slip on’s. He was just sad he was never in the pinklight. Barbie heard a cute honk and realized Stacie had finally made it to the Malibu Dream House. Barbie popped Ken on her shoulder and stop-motioned her way to the door. “Hey, Barbie!” Hey, Stacie!” They attempted to kiss on the cheek hello, but their plastic outer shells caused their faces to slip, and Ken went flying into the air. “Ahhhhhh” Ken shouted. Unsure of where Ken went, they decided to move on.

He would be solo for his shrunken man summer. 

“I’m hungry!” Stacie announced with glee. “Well, the only thing in my fridge is strawberry lemonade! In any case, I certainly am not going to be the gourmet giantess little Ken expects me to be! Besides, maybe you can take me grocery shopping on the way back from the beach, Stacie!” Barbie said with her mouth not moving. Stacie moved her arms back and forth and finally, they stayed in the air.  She shouted, ” Let’s get some fresh fruit, I just love anything with a hot pink center, Barbie!” And finally, they slowly drove off into the sunset, with a giant hand pushing them along.
