Watching You Do Ordinary Things Is My Favorite Hobby

Yesterday was the perfect day with you.

I love to watch you do ordinary things all day long. I love to watch your hands move. You know when you brush your teeth and do your hair in the morning? I can’t even explain how much I love to watch that. The way your fingers move through your hair reminds me of how I like to touch you. I love to rake my fingers through it and feel the reaction ripple all through your body.

You offer to make breakfast, and I watch you do all the ordinary things.

I love how much you love cooking. It’s adorable and sweet how much care you put into everything. You brew my coffee in the French press, and watching you do ordinary things like that is so romantic. You know exactly how much cream I want. Meanwhile, when you start preparing vegetables, you handle your chef’s knife so carefully, like it doesn’t weigh anything. It strangely reminds me of the way you carry me to bed after I fall asleep on the couch. You never act like I’m heavy, and you never bump my head.

The sizzle on the stove is low enough for us to talk. I love watching your mouth move. It makes me think of your lips against my skin. I know, watching you do ordinary things like talking shouldn’t seem special. I can’t explain. It makes me think of when you whisper those wordless poems on my neck, close up against me, it brings me to a place I can’t explain.

At the same time, when I see those same lips, your lips, on your face saying everyday words and phrases, I find myself just as captivated. Your tongue takes a lick from a spoon, and I remember how you taste. My mouth waters a little, even as I sip my coffee. It’s only 9am, and we already can’t stop looking at each other.

After we eat breakfast, you help me in the garden.

You’re so supportive of my hobbies. I ask you to fill my water buckets, and you carry them without any complaint. I’ve never considered myself a shoulders gal. However, watching you do ordinary things arouses something. When I see you carry things for me, it sets off a little primal roar in my chest. Rawr. I want to drag my nails down your chest and start breathing in your ear.

As we work, your hands help drag the soil into my pots. You don’t mind the dirt or getting some grit under your nails. Again, the way your hands and fingers move never fails to mesmerize me.

You’re lucky. Such simple things that you do will never stop fascinating me. Can I watch you do ordinary things with your hands? It’s so pretty in the manliest way. Your thick, masculine fingers move with such care when you want them to, which means you have so much control over what you do. It’s how you touch me. It’s the way you pay attention to me.

Later, you hand me a bowl of ice cream and sit down with me on the sofa. I watch your fingers make tiny circles on my skin while I take little bites, occasionally feeding you some while we watch a new movie. Every time I give you a taste, I can see the corners of your mouth turn up. I love seeing your micro-reactions. You do that in other moments, too. The little ways you sigh, shiver, and the way your face moves. I love feeling your body do ordinary things, and watching you react to me.

By the end of the day, all I want is to be close to you. Let me curl up beside you. Let me listen to all your secrets while your fingers trace lazy patterns across my skin. I can’t imagine spending a better day with you, or a better ending.
