“I understand, Mrs. H, but she has to be punished for this behavior.” Mr. G said, putting his hand gently on her shoulder.

“Is there any way I can change your mind about the suspension? She has already been through so much, and losing her scholarship would crush her.”

“I could get fired for this, but how about I do a home visit? Maybe Katie will open up, and we can figure out some type of community school service instead of suspension. That is if that works for you, Mrs. H?”

“ I’m going to take that as a yes, how about tomorrow evening, say about 5 pm?’’
