If you haven’t yet watched yet, turn on that tube! The new Dutch series from Netflix follows the boom of phone sex lines in Amsterdam in the late 1980s. Though they didn’t invent phone sex, they certainly made it wildly popular in Europe. There has most likely been dirty talk on telephones since the invention of the device itself, however, we can definitely thank Gloria Leonard for the dawn of phone sex as we know it. After leaving a phone number in High Society magazine, men listened from across the country to a recording of Ms. Leonard. She seductively told them what to expect from the next issue of the porn magazine. Brilliant right? But let’s get back to the deliciously dirty, Dirty Lines Series.

Fact or Fiction?

Although in the series the company goes by Teledutch, it is more than loosely based on the true story of Teleholding, Europe’s first erotic phone line. The two brothers whose names were changed for the Dirty Lines Series, invented the company. They created what would soon be called the “Sexophone” and boy were they a hit. They received millions of calls within their first twenty-four hours. If you have never tried phone sex before, you will after watching an episode or two. The series is a non-stop adrenaline rush of sex, drugs, and techno music. You won’t mind the subtitles when you hear the sexy Oooo’s and Ahhhh’s this series delivers.

The Dirty Lines Series and The Psychology of Sex

Enough about these boys already, let’s talk about the leading lady. The series follows another main character who plays an equally important role. Marly, a university student, studied Sexology. Her professor offered her a job that changed the phone sex game for Teledutch completely.  Marly’s interest however was a little more than what she should say when the red light blinks. Although there isn’t any information on the real-life Marly or even of her existence, the Dirty Lines series wouldn’t be the same without her. Marly changed the lines from being a simple recording to an interactive sex adventure. Realizing the potential in communication, Marly figured out how to excite your sexiest organ…your brain.

The Parallel Lives in the Dirty Lines Series.

The lives of these characters are intertwined with sex for pleasure, sex for pay, and sex in their lives at home. Watching all these lines blur will provoke an assortment of feelings in your mind as well as what lies between your legs. The Red Light District, nightclubs, and the pure raunchiness of the 1980s will have you hooked and leave a smile on your face. For some, it will bring nostalgic feelings they would love to recreate while making others wish they could have been there at the time. Lock your door, turn up the volume and unzip those pants. We don’t yet know if there will be a second season of the steamy series, but one can only hope. Until then you can always try it out for yourself.
